we heal in connection.”

TRAUMA THERAPY

Trauma: PTSD, Attachment, & Complex

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can develop after someone experiences or witnesses a traumatic event, such as a natural disaster, serious accident, act of terrorism, combat, sexual assault, or a threat of death, serious injury, or sexual violence. Trauma may also arise from experiences within a person’s family of origin or during early childhood development.

Effective post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) treatment relies heavily on trauma-focused talk therapies that can help patients safely process memories, change unhelpful beliefs, and reduce symptom intensity.

Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) Complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD) can develop after prolonged or repeated traumatic experiences, particularly within important relationships. This may include developmental trauma and attachment-related trauma: experiences that shape how a person learns to feel safe, trust others, and form emotional bonds.

Examples can include growing up with alcoholism, abuse, chronic conflict, the death of a parent, neglect, or other traumatic childhood experiences. These experiences may contribute to insecure attachment patterns that affect current relationships, including dependency, fear of closeness, conflict, avoidance, and anxiety.

I offer trauma therapy in-person in Wheat Ridge and Boulder, Colorado. I also offer online therapy (telehealth) to provide help if you are not in the area.

A Holistic Approach
to Mental Health

Trauma Therapist: Dr. Natalie Stemati, Psy.D.

Dr. Natalie Stemati, Psy.D.

My personal and professional experiences have shaped an approach to therapy that recognizes the connection between the mind and body. I offer a warm, curious, compassionate, and occasionally humorous space where clients can explore their experiences and better understand themselves.

My work emphasizes depth-oriented therapy: we address the symptoms that bring you in while also exploring the underlying patterns and experiences contributing to them. Together, we identify the barriers that may be keeping you stuck, develop tools to manage the distress they create, and build a deeper understanding of yourself, your relationships, and your world.

MY HEALING APPROACH

My approach helps you learn how to care for your body. Our bodies hold onto deep pain and past events. I use mindfulness, meditation, somatic work, and nutrition tips in our sessions. I have personally experienced the power of a mind-body approach to healing and my intention is to pay that knowledge forward.
